Kili Pictures - Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

We were up, same routine as every other day, only this was not every other day.  This was our last day and our last day in the meal tent.  It was bitter sweet.  We had such a great experience and were sad to see it coming to and end, but boy were we all excited about real showers and real beds!!

The hike out was easier than the day before.  Though we still had a lot of vertical elevation to descend it was smoother going than the end of Day 6.  We stayed together as one group heading down so we would all finish together.  We saw some monkeys in the trees near our trail and a crazy road of ants.

It got really muddy toward the end, thick quicksand kind of mud.  We were, for the very last time, greeted by our porters and staff with a song as we came out of the woods.  We had finally reached Mweka Gate.

They had a wonderful lunch for us.  Got our boots and gaiters cleaned up and then we were off.  Back to the hotel for showers, a nap, and a beer.
Day 7 - Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

Once we were back at the hotel we enjoyed nice long showers.  Re-organized our stuff once again.  Joined the group for some celebratory beers and our safari briefing.  We went out for a celebratory dinner that night and to say goodbye to those that would not be joining us the next day on safari.
