Kili Pictures - Day 5:Karanga Camp to Kosovo Camp

Up, Up, Up.  That describes day 5.  It was a slow and steady climb from camp and the higher we got the colder, and foggier it became. So at each rest stop we added additional layers to keep us warm in the wind and fog.  There was a lot of slate in the part of our hike.  Like someone took a dump truck of it and dumped out right there.  As we approached Barafu camp it started to rain, so once again we lucked out with great timing since it was lunch time.  Most teams sleep at Barafu before making their summit attempt but we went up just a bit higher to Kosovo camp.

At lunch we measured our Oxy/Pulse again.  K was: O:89/P:101 and J was O:79/P:94.  J is reaching the point of oxygen saturation that would make him a good candidate for the morgue at sea level.  Thank goodness we're up at 15000ft.

The last section of our hike to Kosovo was very steep and of course it started to snow.  It was a pleasant change from rain but still cold and foggy.

Finally we got into camp, got some rest, and had an early dinner at 5pm.  We took our OxyPulse one last time.  K was O:81/P:85 and J was O:75/P:84.  Eric also told us that we'd burng 10,000 calories on summit day!

It was too bed by 6:30pm so we could get a little bit of sleep before waking up at 11pm to get ready for summit day.
