The Norgren's come to town

As part of my parent's grand tour of Germany Javier and I decided we needed to start off with a weekend in Garmisch. There is so much to see in southern Germany, it made the perfect place to set up camp for a few days while we explored. I use the term "camp" figuratively, we stayed in a very nice hotel with all the modern amenities.

With only a few days to see it all we spent our first afternoon (after the long drive down) exploring Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau, two castles belonging to King Ludwig II.

The next day we made our way to the top of the Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany. With the warm weather we had in Garmisch we were expecting some snow at the peak, but we had no idea that it would be the perfect ski day. If only we had brought our gear. We still spent some time playing in the snow even if we couldn't enjoy the slopes. What a change in weather from the peak to Lake Eibsee, our next stop. Its just at the base of the mountain, but the weather couldn't have been more different.

We rounded out the afternoon with a visit to Linderhof, another of King Ludwig II's palaces.

We were heading home on Monday but not without a stop in Munich first. Javier and I enjoyed the walking tour so much the first time we took my parents on it this time. It really is home of the free tour and you should check out their tours if you're ever in one of their cities.

And now what you've all been waiting for, pictures from this amazing weekend. There are 150 pictures so take your time and pace yourself :)
